National Show Sept. 11 – 15, 2008. Open show is on September 13.
Junior Show is on September 14.

  • Exhibitors receive a travel bonus, free hay and bedding.
  • First place pay $120 and pays 10 places
  • The hotel is less than a mile from the fairgrounds.

Dear APA Member,

Here are some details about the National Show in Puyallup Sept. 11-15, 2008. If you are planning to arrive on Sept. 10, please contact Ellen Schmitz, Open Class Beef Supt., at 253-927-2297 and she will mail the proper permits to you.

We are asking for prepaid orders for sweatshirts and hats. We will only have a limited number for sale at the show. Order form included with this letter. (Online Order Form)

The American Pinzgauer Association Board meeting will be on Sept. 12, 2008 at 10am at the Best Western Park Plaza Hotel. The General membership meeting will also be at the hotel on Sept. 12 at 1pm.

The Northwest Pinzgauer Assoc. meeting will be on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, 45 minutes after the conclusion of the Junior Show which begins at 9am on that same day.

There will be a banquet and auction on Saturday night, Sept. 13, 2008 at approx 7pm or as soon as possible after the open show. The “No Host Bar” will be open at 6:45pm that evening. The price for the dinner will be $21.00. and tickets need to be purchased ahead of time soon after arrival in Puyallup.

If you have auction items, bring them along and let Donna Boyer know when you get there as she is in charge of both the silent and oral auctions.

Donations always accepted to go towards the show or the morning donuts! Just send a check to Judy Gordon and tell her where it should go. Donors will be recognized at the show.

The photos for the “Working Cow” contest can either be brought with you to show or mailed to Judy Gordon. They will be judged at the show and awards given.

We will also announce the winner of the APA Hall of Fame award (the first ever!) at the banquet.

Message From The NWPA President

Dear Fellow NWPA Members,

Hope calving is going well for you!

Just a couple of reminders:

The meeting on March 1, 2008 will be postponed until a later date. I will advise you of a new date as soon as I have one. I will be setting up a teleconference for the Executive Committee and will call each of them with the details.

There is a new address for the NWPA and it is as follows: Northwest Pinzgauer Association 294 NW 2"d "'AVE.- PMB # 240 Canby, OR 97013. The facility where our box was previously held is going out of business as of Feb. 29, 2008.

Arrangements for the National Show are coming right along. We have the hotel rooms blocked; judges for both shows, arrangements for the dinner/auction are in the works, etc. Watch for more when the next issue of The Journal arrives.

Speaking of The Journal, Pam needs photos and articles to include in the official publication of our breed so let's help her out!!!

Rick Boyer is has been busy rounding up the heifers for the Futurity auction at the Youth Fair in May so get ready for that.

I have all of the information for the International Congress to be held in the Slovak Republic from Aug. 22, 2008 - Sept. 1, 2008. Let me know if you want the details. I will also ask Kurt to put the info on our website. I'm sure the Northwest will have some people going!

Dues are due!!! The deadline has been extended to Feb. 29, 2008 because the notice was late coming out in The Tails.

We're still working on a field trip for the NWPA Juniors - don't give up on us!
